Live Edge Timbers & English Hardwoods

Whitwell Sawmill is a small specialist wood yard located in rural Hertfordshire, run by Simon Nicholl and his team. Having custom built bespoke furniture for over a decade through his business S. Nicholl Furniture, Simon constantly felt the desire to promote the use of English hardwoods. Over the years Simon has taken various opportunities to mill local fallen timber and the purchase of the mobile sawmill in 2021 led to the creation of Whitwell Sawmill as a division of S. Nicholl Furniture.
Since then the team has been building a collection of stunning local timber, working with various local businesses and individuals to build a collection of planked English hardwoods which has been kiln dried and prepared for sale. 

Each piece of timber is unique and documented so you will know exactly where it came from, why it came down, when it was cut and when it was kiln dried. Simon is passionate about encouraging the use of local timber that has very low mileage and has not been part of mass felling. 

Whitwell Sawmill specialises in kiln dried locally sourced timbers, waney edge and live edge wood slabs so you can find the perfect piece for the project or build you have planned.
